Koh Samet , (65 images) We have been to Koh Samet before some years ago. Recently we visited the famous island outside Rayong. Having a national holiday last monday, many Thais used the opportunity to relax on the island too. All hotels were fully booked. We managed to get a room on Samet Ville Resort in the south east part of the island. The place is beautiful and specially the beach and water was excellent. The hotel standard was not great, specially compared to the price you pay. However, that is how Koh Samet is. We explored the island hiring a motorbike, quite an experience since the roads on the island are very bad. I would not call the roads at all, but rather dirt tracks in the jungle. I think my wife has some opinion of that. Koh Samet is a national park in Thailand. The development of hotels and tourism has therefore been limited. The inner part of the island contains mainly of jungle and hills. Water resources are few and our resort had to bring water every day to the resort.
